You cannot claim to have democracy when your political actions and strategies are deeply anchored in undemocratic principles. Worst, you cannot proclaim democracy when you do not even have principles that hinge on universal fundamentals.
Let us take a look at the way BN is preparing itself for the mother of all elections. What does it show? Can we take five to review without fear or favour of all that is there to be seen and heard?
When the opposition holds a public ceramah, the rakyat give money to help fund the expenses. When it is a BN do, the rakyat come to take what is given - ranging from rice to permits to now blue helmets. Why?
When Pakatan launches its manifesto, they are open to debate about how workable their promises to the rakyat is going to be. But BN came with guns blazing claiming just weeks ago that the opposition's manifesto will bankrupt the nation.
But when BN launches its manifesto it is beyond debate. It is subservient to the long serving BN mantra of "we know best", never mind about the pathetic fact that it is, beyond any doubt, a copy-cat of sorts of the very PR manifesto BN condemned.
Yes, how come when PR weaves out its manifesto, it will bankrupt the nation; but when BN launches a photocopier version it will not bankrupt the nation? Oh my God, this seems to be far more tricky than a David Copperfield deed mate!
Any street bumpkin will see through that unsinkable truth, i.e. how come a political party that had 55 years to its bag, is now coming and making all these promises? Does it also not translate to the stark fact that BN has actually failed to deliver in the best interest of the citizens?
That is why BN is reduced to near begging and fearing the rakyat.
Disgusting mantra, Altantuya & ring issues still resound
Try also to decipher the tone and content of all of BN's message to woo voters. It is always the same mantra, i.e. "you help me, I help you". So what if the rakyat do not help? Will you go guns blazing on them?
BN gives ten minutes of media time to PR,while taking hours to air its own manifesto. Why? Democracy at work or absolute right?
In the first place if BN has truly delivered these last thirty years in the best interest of citizens, why does it have to make promises of giving all kinds of new incentives, discounts, handouts, privileges, and what have you?
Why only now announce your promises to fight graft and corruption? Where were you when icons of justice and moral governance screamed their heads off or blew their lungs out trying to expose the many suspicious wrong doings? You tried to jail them or silence them with fabrications of sorts, remember?
You have not even addressed the Altantuya case but seem so bent on erasing the diamond ring saga. Then why not try to paint white the Birkin bags expose?
Or how about the deaths under custody? The arms profiteering - just look at your agent holed up in expensive London lah.
Greatest Failure - the failure to stand up to corruption
Did not the ex-generals openly state that their is corruption to the bone in all the dealings involving the navy, army, air force and police? Or are you saying these ex-generals are lying?
Your manifesto actually confirms the rakyat's suspicion.
What BN politicians and their paid-stooges are saying is that they have messed all their supposedly blueprints these past thirty years and as the shit has already hit the ceiling, they have no choice but to cover their dirt tracks by any means and all means.
Look BN politicians, if you have truthfully delivered along democratic and universally acceptable principles of good governance, you would not be reduced to pathetic begging and desperate pleading today.
You do not even have to give rice bags and blue helmets plus free styrofoam packed nasi bungkus or offer RM1.38 a day relief cash. You can instead stand tall and say, "do you want what we have delivered all these thirty years to continue?" and the rakyat would sing nationwide "yes".
You could very well ride the tornadoes with confidence by singing, "we have delivered on our promises and if you want us to continue we will be happy to serve you".
You will not be crying this eleventh hour, "you help me so i can help you".
The fact that you have to change your wooing calls and ape the PR manifesto, is in short an admissibility of failure.
Is this too difficult to comprehend?
If there is any politician worth his or her salt, do what many other top leaders like the ex-generals from the navy, military and air force as well as police have done; or at least have the moral fibre to emulate the several other ex-cabinet ministers and politicians who have stepped out of the shadows of BN and said their honest piece.

BN SCARED: Not a single credible leader left in the once-mighty coalition

When explaining the final procedures of the election to grassroots leaders, BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak reminded BN members who have not been fielded to contest in the upcoming general election to keep their disappointment and dissatisfaction for only 24 hours and they should calm down to help canvassing after that.
ReplyDeleteNajib’s message is simple, that is: BN cannot afford any internal sabotage. Even former prime ministers, namely Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Abdullah Badawi have advised component party leaders to accept the candidates chosen by Najib.
ReplyDeleteBN failed to gain two-thirds of majority seats in the Parliament in the 2008 general election and internal sabotage was among the reasons. Dr Mahathir had criticised Abdullah for causing infighting in Umno at that time but today, the two former prime ministers have condemned such acts.

Together with at least 5,000,000 members from Gerakan, PPP and other component parties, as well as votes from the 1,400,000 civil servants and their family members, the basic support of the BN should have more than half of the total 13,268,002 voters.

Sehubungan itu, Ketua Menteri Datuk Seri Musa Aman meminta rakyat Sabah agar tidak bereksperimen dalam memilih kerajaan kerana jika tersilap pilih, kesannya berpanjangan dan dirasai generasi akan datang.

ReplyDeleteNajib's rallying meeting coincided with news that MCA is set to 'loan' some seats to Umno for GE13. The Chinese party was decimated in GE12 and it is thought that given Najib's broad appeal, BN has a better chance in some seats with an Umno candidate on the ballot paper.

Kita tahu, walaupun Tun Musa ada menyimpan dendam di sana sini terhadap beberapa individu di dalam UMNO tetapi, beliau tidak cukup bodoh untuk membela PR, apatah lagi dalam keadaan sokongan terhadap parti itu semakin nipis. Mana tidaknya, jika hampir keseluruhan kempen mereka adalah berdasarkan isu yang direka-reka, kalaupun tidak ditokok tambah. On Parti Bersatu Sabah's (PBS) achievement in retaining the Keningau parliamentary seat and the Tambunan state seat, Musa said it showed that the Kadazandusun-Murut community still accepted Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan as their Huguan Siou or paramount chief.

ReplyDeleteWITH the 13th general election around the corner, questions are being asked if Sabah and Sarawak will remain the "fixed deposit" of the ruling Barisan Nasional to keep Putrajaya.
There are 25 parliamentary seats up for grabs in Sabah, and 31 in neighbouring Sarawak.

ReplyDeleteHowever, it appears that the BN, rejuvenated after Datuk Seri Najib Razak took over its leadership, looks set to yet again stamp its mark in east Malaysia.

Over the last four years, the prime minister, despite his tight schedule, had made countless trips to Sabah and Sarawak, to see for himself what needs to be done to further uplift the well-being of the people in the two states.

ReplyDeleteBillions of ringgit have been allocated for the two states whose combined size is bigger than the peninsula. And the result is evident with new roads, bridges, schools, hospitals and other amenities crucial to improve the livelihood of the people provided.
The whopping development allocation and the various initiatives he had introduced in the two states have endeared Najib with the estimated seven million Sabahans and Sarawakians.

Soon after becoming prime minister, Najib declared Sept 16, the day the federation of Malaysia was formed of which Sabah and Sarawak were an integral part, a national holiday.

ReplyDeleteIn Sabah, Najib had taken the bull by the horns when he agreed to the formation of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to probe the large presence of illegal immigrants in the state, a longstanding problem that has been a key issue in every election.
ReplyDeleteIt was indeed a brave decision which caught the opposition by surprise, leaving them with no choice but to portray the RCI as toothless, when by right everybody should wait for the outcome of the investigation before making any conclusion.

To the people of Sabah, the prompt formation of the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) and the Eastern Sabah Safety Zone (Esszone) was proof of Najib's total commitment to protect the state from unwanted elements in the future.

Their arrogance in brushing aside suggestions from local opposition parties to work out a compromise on a single candidate to take on the BN has cast suspicion about their real intention.

ReplyDeleteThe state BN should also have no problem keeping its two-thirds majority in the 60-member State Legislative Assembly, although it may have to work hard to retain some seats.

ReplyDeleteA tough contest is expected in some marginal seats with the results expected to go either way, but it is not far-fetched for BN to repeat its success in 2008.
