You cannot claim to have democracy when your political actions and strategies are deeply anchored in undemocratic principles. Worst, you cannot proclaim democracy when you do not even have principles that hinge on universal fundamentals.
Let us take a look at the way BN is preparing itself for the mother of all elections. What does it show? Can we take five to review without fear or favour of all that is there to be seen and heard?
When the opposition holds a public ceramah, the rakyat give money to help fund the expenses. When it is a BN do, the rakyat come to take what is given - ranging from rice to permits to now blue helmets. Why?
When Pakatan launches its manifesto, they are open to debate about how workable their promises to the rakyat is going to be. But BN came with guns blazing claiming just weeks ago that the opposition's manifesto will bankrupt the nation.
But when BN launches its manifesto it is beyond debate. It is subservient to the long serving BN mantra of "we know best", never mind about the pathetic fact that it is, beyond any doubt, a copy-cat of sorts of the very PR manifesto BN condemned.
Yes, how come when PR weaves out its manifesto, it will bankrupt the nation; but when BN launches a photocopier version it will not bankrupt the nation? Oh my God, this seems to be far more tricky than a David Copperfield deed mate!
Any street bumpkin will see through that unsinkable truth, i.e. how come a political party that had 55 years to its bag, is now coming and making all these promises? Does it also not translate to the stark fact that BN has actually failed to deliver in the best interest of the citizens?
That is why BN is reduced to near begging and fearing the rakyat.
Disgusting mantra, Altantuya & ring issues still resound
Try also to decipher the tone and content of all of BN's message to woo voters. It is always the same mantra, i.e. "you help me, I help you". So what if the rakyat do not help? Will you go guns blazing on them?
BN gives ten minutes of media time to PR,while taking hours to air its own manifesto. Why? Democracy at work or absolute right?
In the first place if BN has truly delivered these last thirty years in the best interest of citizens, why does it have to make promises of giving all kinds of new incentives, discounts, handouts, privileges, and what have you?
Why only now announce your promises to fight graft and corruption? Where were you when icons of justice and moral governance screamed their heads off or blew their lungs out trying to expose the many suspicious wrong doings? You tried to jail them or silence them with fabrications of sorts, remember?
You have not even addressed the Altantuya case but seem so bent on erasing the diamond ring saga. Then why not try to paint white the Birkin bags expose?
Or how about the deaths under custody? The arms profiteering - just look at your agent holed up in expensive London lah.
Greatest Failure - the failure to stand up to corruption
Did not the ex-generals openly state that their is corruption to the bone in all the dealings involving the navy, army, air force and police? Or are you saying these ex-generals are lying?
Your manifesto actually confirms the rakyat's suspicion.
What BN politicians and their paid-stooges are saying is that they have messed all their supposedly blueprints these past thirty years and as the shit has already hit the ceiling, they have no choice but to cover their dirt tracks by any means and all means.
Look BN politicians, if you have truthfully delivered along democratic and universally acceptable principles of good governance, you would not be reduced to pathetic begging and desperate pleading today.
You do not even have to give rice bags and blue helmets plus free styrofoam packed nasi bungkus or offer RM1.38 a day relief cash. You can instead stand tall and say, "do you want what we have delivered all these thirty years to continue?" and the rakyat would sing nationwide "yes".
You could very well ride the tornadoes with confidence by singing, "we have delivered on our promises and if you want us to continue we will be happy to serve you".
You will not be crying this eleventh hour, "you help me so i can help you".
The fact that you have to change your wooing calls and ape the PR manifesto, is in short an admissibility of failure.
Is this too difficult to comprehend?
If there is any politician worth his or her salt, do what many other top leaders like the ex-generals from the navy, military and air force as well as police have done; or at least have the moral fibre to emulate the several other ex-cabinet ministers and politicians who have stepped out of the shadows of BN and said their honest piece.

BN SCARED: Not a single credible leader left in the once-mighty coalition

When explaining the final procedures of the election to grassroots leaders, BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak reminded BN members who have not been fielded to contest in the upcoming general election to keep their disappointment and dissatisfaction for only 24 hours and they should calm down to help canvassing after that.
ReplyDeleteNajib’s message is simple, that is: BN cannot afford any internal sabotage. Even former prime ministers, namely Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Abdullah Badawi have advised component party leaders to accept the candidates chosen by Najib.
ReplyDeleteBN failed to gain two-thirds of majority seats in the Parliament in the 2008 general election and internal sabotage was among the reasons. Dr Mahathir had criticised Abdullah for causing infighting in Umno at that time but today, the two former prime ministers have condemned such acts.
ReplyDeleteUmno has 3,386,274 members, the MCA has 1,000,000 while the MIC has more than 500,000. Together with at least 5,000,000 members from Gerakan, PPP and other component parties, as well as votes from the 1,400,000 civil servants and their family members, the basic support of the BN should have more than half of the total 13,268,002 voters.
ReplyDeleteTo ensure not much rebound from the grassroots, the move to replace candidates and shift constituencies should then be logical and reasonable.
ReplyDeleteThe arrogance and greedy ambitions of DAP n PKR is the main reason BN is going to win big in GE13..
ReplyDeleteUndilah untuk parti yang pentingkan rakyat dan bukannya untuk kepentingan peribadi...
ReplyDeletepilihlah parti yang pentingkan untuk kesejahteraan rakyat keseluruhannya..
ReplyDeletewe all know that DAP is getting so arrogant in Sabah....
ReplyDeletevote wisely for the future of Sabah

ReplyDeleteDemocracy is important.
ReplyDeleteDemokrasi harus ada.
ReplyDeleteJangan biarkan pembangkang bermaharajalela.
ReplyDeleteMereka suka mengambil kesempatan.
ReplyDeleteThe principle is we have to make choices.
ReplyDeleteThe coalition is strong enough.
ReplyDeleteWin or lose is a simple equation.
ReplyDeleteMusa Aman: BN Sabah komited bela nasib rakyat
ReplyDeleteBarisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak is prepared to stand up and be counted on seat allocation; having the final say on who is picked and warning party leaders Wednesday that it is "impossible to fulfil the wishes of all parties".
ReplyDeleteAnd he made it clear that BN cannot afford to have those passed over for selection "sulking" over their omission rather than working for victory on behalf of their party.
ReplyDeleteNajib gathered the leaders of BN component parties in Kuala Lumpur to urge them one last time to accept the candidate list that will be revealed "in a few days", and to not allow disappointment to undermine BN's chances in GE13. This is diplomatic speak for "don't sabotage your own party".
ReplyDelete"Candidacy should be a means to an end ... of forming a strong government. We will not allow other feelings or considerations to replace this objective," he said afterwards.
ReplyDeleteThe Prime Minister added that those who failed in 2008 won't necessarily miss out this time. The key to deciding whether they get another chance will be their attitude and hard work since the last election.
ReplyDelete"We need to be flexible in naming our candidates based on current needs. If a defeated candidate has worked hard and is accepted by the constituents, he has a chance to be fielded again," he said.
ReplyDeleteHis message was well received by all BN component parties. Former Perlis chief minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim summed it up afterwards as: "to those who do not get a place be patient" and "to those who are chosen be grateful."
ReplyDeleteMalacca Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam added: "Leave the candidacy to the BN leadership. To those who do not get a seat, do not despair. Party first, candidates second."
ReplyDeleteThe fact that these leaders are trusting Najib's judgement is testament to the respect he has commanded since he first unveiled his winnable candidates formula aimed at re-energising BN with youth and fresh ideas.
ReplyDeleteBut Najib's approach is also one of carrot and stick. Alongside his appeal to loyalty stands a disciplinary committee ready to intervene if anyone breaks ranks.
ReplyDeleteIt's a formula that works, and as a result all voters see as we head to polling day is unity and party discipline within BN.
ReplyDeleteFormer Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has echoed Najib's appeal, saying that if these unsuccessful candidates really love their party they will accept the decision "with an open heart".
ReplyDeleteWhat is happening at BN is a stark contrast with undisciplined Pakatan Rakyat where Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is still fire-fighting seat disputes and PAS have now raised the spectre of damaging three-cornered contests.
ReplyDeleteNajib's rallying meeting coincided with news that MCA is set to 'loan' some seats to Umno for GE13. The Chinese party was decimated in GE12 and it is thought that given Najib's broad appeal, BN has a better chance in some seats with an Umno candidate on the ballot paper.
ReplyDeleteConcerted efforts by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Najib’s administration have churned out many success stories within five years.
ReplyDeleteOne of the not-to-neglect factors that should be made known is the increase in the household income amid steady Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth since 2009, supported by "inclusive" economic planning.
ReplyDelete"If Malaysia can sustain decent economic growth going forward, it will likely see further improvements in the household income," said Chief Economist of Malaysian Rating Corp Bhd (MARC), Nor Zahidi Alias.
ReplyDelete"The 7.2 per cent annual increase in the average monthly income of our households is quite encouraging considering the inflation rate which rose by an average 2.2 per cent per annum on a Cumulative Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) basis.
ReplyDelete"Food prices increased by 3.3 per cent per annum while transport costs climbed by 2.3 per cent per annum in the same period.
ReplyDelete"So, the increase in household income has generally outpaced the increases in the cost of goods and services that households have to incur," Nor Zahidi told.
ReplyDeleteThe 2012 Household Income Survey recently found the average monthly income of Malaysian households rising from RM4,025 in 2009 to RM5,000 in 2012, an increase of 7.2 per cent annually.
ReplyDeleteThe urban household monthly income increased at a rate of 6.6 per cent a year from RM4,705 in 2009 to RM5,742 last year, while the rural household monthly income rose 6.4 per cent annually from RM2,545 to RM3,080.
ReplyDelete"That's the positive part of it. In addition, in major cities like Kuala Lumpur, household income rose at a faster pace of 14.9 per cent and this helped compensate price increases which tend to be faster in urban centres," he said.
ReplyDeleteThe United States (US) has congratulated Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition for winning Sunday’s 13th General Election (GE13).
ReplyDelete“We congratulate the people of Malaysia on holding the most competitive election in their country’s history,” a statement issued by the US Embassy here said yesterday, quoting Patrick Ventrell, acting deputy spokesman at the US State Department.
ReplyDelete“We were pleased to see Malaysians across the political spectrum engaged in the electoral process in large numbers with unprecedented enthusiasm,” he said, adding that the US looked forward to working with the new government, once it was formed.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteThe GE13 saw the Najib-led BN returned to power when the coalition won 133 of the 222 parliamentary seats to form the new federal government.
On Monday, Najib took the oath of office as prime minister before Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah at the Istana Negara.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteIn the statement, Ventrell also called on all parties to peacefully respect the will of the voters.
On concerns about voting irregularities, he said addressing such issues was important to strengthen confidence in the electoral process.
ReplyDeleteNajib, who is BN chairman, also received a congratulatory message via phone call yesterday from his New Zealand counterpart, John Key, according to an aide of the Malaysian leader.
ReplyDeleteThe Barisan Nasional (BN) has retained Sabah with a two-thirds majority by winning 48 of the 60 state seats in the 13th general election.
ReplyDeleteThe state BN also won 22 of 25 parliamentary seats in Sabah to contribute to the formation of the BN government at the federal level.
ReplyDeleteSabah BN chairman Datuk Seri Musa Aman described the achievement as good and showed that Sabahans still accepted the BN as the ruling party.
"My colleagues and I were humbled by the support and encouragement given by Sabahans and the mandate would spur us to fulfil the needs of the people with a better service delivery," he told reporters at Sri Gaya early today.
ReplyDeleteCommenting on BN's failure to defend the Sandakan and Penampang parliamentary seats as well as the failure to seize the Kota Kinabalu parliamentary seat, Musa said despite the setbacks, he accepted the decision of the people with an open heart.
On Parti Bersatu Sabah's (PBS) achievement in retaining the Keningau parliamentary seat and the Tambunan state seat, Musa said it showed that the Kadazandusun-Murut community still accepted Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan as their Huguan Siou or paramount chief.
ReplyDeleteHe said overall, the state BN's performance was still good as it was able to get a two-thirds majority despite losing several seats by a narrow margin.
ReplyDeleteState BN should have no problem keeping its two-thirds majority
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteWITH the 13th general election around the corner, questions are being asked if Sabah and Sarawak will remain the "fixed deposit" of the ruling Barisan Nasional to keep Putrajaya.
There are 25 parliamentary seats up for grabs in Sabah, and 31 in neighbouring Sarawak.
ReplyDeleteIn the 2008 general election, the BN almost made a clean sweep of the 56 federal seats in the two states, losing only in the Chinese-majority constituencies of Kota Kinabalu and Kuching.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteKnowing that a big win in Sabah and Sarawak could well decide who gets to form the next government, the central leaderships of both the ruling and opposition parties have been frequently shuttling across the South China Sea to the two states over the last two years.
ReplyDeleteHowever, it appears that the BN, rejuvenated after Datuk Seri Najib Razak took over its leadership, looks set to yet again stamp its mark in east Malaysia.
ReplyDeleteSince assuming the premiership, Najib has given special focus to the two states, which are often described as less developed compared with the rest in Malaysia.
Over the last four years, the prime minister, despite his tight schedule, had made countless trips to Sabah and Sarawak, to see for himself what needs to be done to further uplift the well-being of the people in the two states.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteBillions of ringgit have been allocated for the two states whose combined size is bigger than the peninsula. And the result is evident with new roads, bridges, schools, hospitals and other amenities crucial to improve the livelihood of the people provided.
The whopping development allocation and the various initiatives he had introduced in the two states have endeared Najib with the estimated seven million Sabahans and Sarawakians.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteBut it is not just about development. The people in the two states are also grateful to Najib for making bold decisions which they thought would never become a reality.
Soon after becoming prime minister, Najib declared Sept 16, the day the federation of Malaysia was formed of which Sabah and Sarawak were an integral part, a national holiday.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteTo many Sabahans and Sarawakians, Sept 16 is not only a significant but also a historical date close to their hearts, and they see Najib's decision as a reflection of his sincere desire to see the two states move forward in tandem with the rest in Malaysia in all aspects of development in line with the 1Malaysia concept he espouses.
ReplyDeleteIn Sabah, Najib had taken the bull by the horns when he agreed to the formation of the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to probe the large presence of illegal immigrants in the state, a longstanding problem that has been a key issue in every election.
ReplyDeleteIt was indeed a brave decision which caught the opposition by surprise, leaving them with no choice but to portray the RCI as toothless, when by right everybody should wait for the outcome of the investigation before making any conclusion.
ReplyDeleteThe affirmative action and decisiveness of the prime minister to effectively deal with the armed intruders in Lahad Datu and Semporna, has the whole of Malaysia, especially Sabah, convinced about how much he cared for the people's safety and security.
To the people of Sabah, the prompt formation of the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) and the Eastern Sabah Safety Zone (Esszone) was proof of Najib's total commitment to protect the state from unwanted elements in the future.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteThe people of Sabah will surely know how to appropriately deal with the opposition who seem more inclined, rather stupidly, to depict the armed incursion as a sandiwara (play-acting) by Umno, when casting their votes.
The people's ire against those who belittled the sacrifice of our security forces defending our country's sovereignty in Lahad Datu and Semporna, which had seen eight officers killed, must not be taken lightly.
ReplyDeleteRecognising how crucial Sabah and Sarawak are in their hope of capturing Putrajaya, key opposition leaders, especially Pakatan Keadilan Rakyat de facto chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang, too have been making regular visits to the two states.
ReplyDeleteBoth leaders have been talking about how much they cared about Sabah, but their actions seem to show otherwise. Their arrogance in brushing aside suggestions from local opposition parties to work out a compromise on a single candidate to take on the BN has cast suspicion about their real intention.
ReplyDeleteThe failure of the peninsula and Sabah-based opposition parties to strike a deal on the distribution of seats may prove costly to them.
ReplyDeletePakatan Rakyat's decision to accommodate the unregistered entity headed respectively by Datuk Seri Wilfred Bumburing and Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin, but not the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and State Reform Party (STAR) has cast doubts on the opposition front's sincerity.
ReplyDeleteIn any case, most of the local opposition political figures in Sabah are recycled leaders whom many describe as more interested in protecting their interests.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, unity and cooperation among component members of the state BN under the leadership of chief minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman is at its strongest. This is a plus point to the ruling coalition.
ReplyDeleteThe state BN should also have no problem keeping its two-thirds majority in the 60-member State Legislative Assembly, although it may have to work hard to retain some seats.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteA tough contest is expected in some marginal seats with the results expected to go either way, but it is not far-fetched for BN to repeat its success in 2008.
