Eighteen-year-old Hadi shot a series of 94-90-92-93-93-96 for a 558 total to finish 12th out of 20 shooters in the 10m air pistol qualification at the Fangshan Shooting Hall on Monday. Only the top eight shooters qualified for the final.

Duo Ching Hwang and Welson also failed to make the finals of the men’s 200m freestyle at the Nanjing OSC Natatorium. Swimming in heat five, Ching Hwang clocked in at 1:51.49 to finish fourth while Welson swam to a new personal best of 1:51.99 to finish fourth in his heat. His previous mark was 1:52.33.

Meanwhile in badminton, Cheam June Wei and Lee Ying Ying kept to their winning ways at the Sports Institute Gymnasium.

June Wei needed 37 minutes before seeing off Thailand’s Mek Narongrit 21-14, 21-15 in his men’s singles Group C tie while Ying Ying downed Slovenia’s Katarina Beton 21-14, 21-10 in 25 minutes in the women’s singles Group H match.

In the mixed doubles event, June Wei and Ng Tsz Yau of Hong Kong made short work of France-Peru pair Tanguy Citron-Daniela Macias in the Group C clash beating them 21-9, 21-8 in 22 minutes.

In contrast, Ying Ying and her Taiwanese partner Lu Chia-hung were made to work hard before winning 21-18, 17-21, 21-7 over Serbia’s Dragoslav Petrovic and Singapore’s Liang Xiao Yu in the Group D clash. -TheStar
