In Russia, Ford is ready to strike the Renault Duster, Nissan Juke, Opel Mokka and Chevrolet Niva with the Ford EcoSport presented today for the first time in the country at the Moscow Motor Show 2014 (2014 Moscow International Auto Salon).
Russia is the fifth country in the world to manufacture the EcoSport.
As previously reported, the EcoSport will be fully manufactured at Ford Sollers’ Tatastan plant later this year. Based on the Fiesta platform, the EcoSport was shown as a concept car at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo and later that year entered production in Brazil. The EcoSport is today made in India, China, Brazil and Thailand.
The Russian EcoSport measures 3,998 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width and 1,648 mm in height, with a ground clearance of 200 mm, and a trunk capacity of 333 liters, and with folded rear seatback, increases to 1,238 liters. Reliable local media reports state that the Russian EcoSport will get all-wheel drive (a press release is yet to be updated on the Ford website at the time of penning this draft).
The basic motor will be the 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine (Ecoboost), and a 90 bhp diesel engine and another 140 bhp 2.0-liter petrol engine would be offered on higher variants.
The base price of the car is 699,000 rubles (INR 11.71 lakhs)
