Pahang Perkasa leadership QUITS EN MASSE over GE14 plans

Ibrahim Ali's political greed triggered implosion? Pahang Perkasa leadership QUITS EN MASSE over GE14 plans
The entire leadership of Pahang Perkasa have resigned en masse from their positions after disagreeing with the national chapter's decision to "study possibilities" of involvement in the 14th general election.

According to Malay daily Sinar Harian today, All 19 committee members resigned after calling for an emergency meeting.

They claim that Perkasa is trying to be part of a political body and was going to be part of a special team for GE14, due to be called in two years at the earliest.

The state Perkasa chief Abdul Wahid Abdul Manap said that his chapter had received a letter signed by national information chief Hassan Basri dated July 10, stating that Perkasa president (Ibrahim Ali) had agreed to look into the possibility of being part of election machinery.

Abdul Wahid was reported as saying that although Perkasa supports the leadership of Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, it did not want to become a political entity.

"Pahang Perkasa cannot accept this decision because the original struggle is for Islam, Malay rights and royal institutions," he reportedly said.

The right wing pressure group while claiming itself a non-partisan non-government organisation, has consistently shown open support for the BN government.

In the 2013 general election, Ibrahim contested the Pasir Mas seat with BN's blessing, while former vice president Zulkifli Noordin contested in Shah Alam directly under BN's banner. -M'kini
