Sabah PKR chief Ahmad Thamrin Jaini told a press conference here today that the group had prepared a list of candidates after gathering feedback from the ground.
PKR chief Anwar Ibrahim had endorsed the list, he said.
He added that DAP and PAS would field candidates in the constituencies not covered by the list.
Sabah has 25 parliamentary and 60 state seats.
Thamrin said PKR was eyeing 10 parliamentary and 20 state seats, adding that he would seek election to the Gum Gum state seat.
Pakatan Perubahan Sabah (PPS) chief Lajim Ukin and Angkatan Perubahan Sabah (APS) chief Wilfred Bumburing also spoke at the press conference.
Lajim said PPS was targeting four parliamentary and 11 state seats. He will defend his Beaufort parliamentary seat and contest for the Klias state seat as well.
Bumburing said he would defend his Tuaran parliamentary seat and also stand in the Tamparuli state constituency.
APS would place candidates for five parliamentary and 12 state seats, he added.
PPS and APS candidates will all contest on the PKR ticket.
Thamrin also said there was a possibility that PKR would be involved in three-cornered fights against Barisan Nasional and either the Sabah State Reform Party (STAR) or the Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP).
“But this will not affect the support for PKR in the state,” he said. “Sabahans are looking at the bigger picture, which is to capture Putrajaya. And Sabahans are capable of changing the state government as well.
“It’s a good time to change.”
Ansari and gang not listed
The list released by PKR today did not contain the names of Tuaran PKR chief Ansari Abdullah and six of his supporters.
Earlier this month, Ansari, in an attempt to hijack the naming of candidates by party leaders in Kuala Lumpur, had announced seven candidates for Sabah’s west coast region.
He had named himself as the candidate for Tuaran constituency and surgeon-activist-author Dr Chong Eng Leong for Sepanggar.
Others were Mazhry Nasir (Putatan), Anthony Mandiau (Kota Marudu), Mursalim Tanjul (Kudat), Saidil Semoi (Kota Belud) and Johanathan Yassin (Ranau).
“We have taken the liberty to release the names of the seven candidates that have been picked by the respective divisions,” Ansari had said.
The list had been immediately dismissed by both Ahmad Thamrin and PKR deputy president Azmin Ali. Azmin had said that Ansari’s candidates list were “mere suggestions”.
In the list released today, apart from Bumburing contesting in Tuaran, Maikol Mahap will be in Kota Marudu, Rahimah Majid (Kudat), Isnaraissah Munirah (Kota Belud) and Jonathan Yasin (Ranau).
Putatan and Sepanggar, meanwhile, have been allocated to DAP. -FMT

PKR to contest 19 federal, 43 state seats in Sabah

DENGAN penyingkiran beberapa tokoh politik PKR Sabah untuk dicalonkan seperti Ansari Abdullah dan rakannya, maka harapan PR Sabah untuk menyumbang sekurang-kurangnya 10 kerusi parlimen semakin pudar.
ReplyDeletePersoalannya, adakah situasi ini boleh mengganggu gugat Putrajaya dari cengkaman BN? Untuk menawan Sabah tidak usahlah difikirkan lagi kerana harapan PR sudah boleh diramal akan kecundang sebelum pertarungan bermula.
ReplyDeleteAdakah calon-calon yang diketengahkan oleh ketua-ketua cabang yang tidak terpilih ini akan duduk berdiam diri? Banyak opsyen yang boleh dibuat. Antaranya bertanding melalui parti pembangkang tempatan seperti SAPP dan STAR atau sekurang-kurangnya BEBAS.

ReplyDeleteMengikut sumber yang boleh dipercayai, kebanyakan calon PKR Sabah adalah proksi atau orang Tamrin. Sekiranya ini benar, maka ia satu kerugian yang tidak ternilai kepada PKR Sabah yang sememangnya mempunyai harapan dan peluang untuk menang tapi malangnya harapan dan peluang itu dimusnahkan dan dihancurkan. Apa pun keadaannya, mari kita sama-sama lihat keputusannya pada 5 mei nanti.

ReplyDeletePKR will contest the lion’s share of state and parliament seats in the Barisan Nasional (BN) fortress state of Sabah, making real the likelihood of three-cornered battles in the east Malaysian state.
ReplyDeleteSabah PKR leader Ahmad Tamrin said today the party, together with its allies APS and PPS, aims to make the “land below the wind” a “frontline state” that will deliver the seats needed to install a Pakatan Rakyat federal government at the May 5 ballot.
“Sabahans are capable of changing governments. Sabahans are now keen on being the frontline state of delivering as many seats as possible,” Tamrin told a press conference at the party’s headquarters here.
ReplyDeleteIn total, the PKR-PPS-APS alliance will contest 19 and 43 of the 25 federal and 60 state seats respectively.
As expected, Lajim and Bumburing will be defending their respective Beaufort and Tuaran seats and at the same time contest for the Klias and Tamparuli state seats. Tamrin, will stand in the Gum-Gum state seat.
ReplyDeleteThe move will likely rile local party SAPP and STAR which had initially planned to work together with the peninsula-based opposition bloc but the idea met a dead-end after seat allocations talks between the three collapsed.
SAPP president, former Sabah chief minister Datuk Yong Teck Lee, had insisted that local parties be given the lion’s share of the state seats while PR can take most of the federal seats.
ReplyDeleteThe federal opposition bloc, however, felt SAPP’s waning influence, as seen from its dismal performance in the last elections, can not justify that demand.
Tamrin refused to comment on the matter but said the prospect of multi-cornered fights is there.

SAPP, which left Barisan Nasional (BN) in September 2008, currently has two MPs ― Datuk Eric Enchin Majimbun in Sepanggar and Datuk Chua Soon Bui in Tawau ― as well as two assemblymen within the Kota Kinabalu parliamentary constituency, Datuk Liew Teck Chan in Likas and Melanie Chia in Luyang.

ReplyDeleteIn 2008, Sabah and Sarawak became the ruling coalition’s saving grace when it gave BN the majority it needed to form the government on a simple majority. BN had only won three seats more than its rivals in mainland Malaysia.

ReplyDeleteChief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman said women in Sabah are never marginalised as safeguarding their rights and interests has always been one of the priorities in the Government's development agenda.
ReplyDeleteMusa, who is also State Finance Minister, said a classic example of the Government's contribution was that of Wisma Wanita which was officially opened by the wife of the Prime Minister, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor in July 2010.
He recalled the occasion when then Chairperson of MPWS, Datuk Noni J. Said and then MPWS member, Datuk Asnimar Sukardi approached him in seeking land for the proposed building.
"I approved their land application, and their next request was funding for its construction. Again I gave the nod, and for a start, I gave an allocation of RM5 million which eventually went up to as much as RM16 million.
"And at every Budget Session, Asnimar, who was then Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Finance Ministry, would consistently push for an additional allocation to make Wisma Wanita a reality," he said.
On a similar note, Musa said wherever possible, he would not hesitate to promote women in the State Civil Service and statutory bodies.
"We have appointed women as CEO, Department Director and Permanent Secretary, among other senior positions. This is because women will discharge their duties well when entrusted with responsibilities."
Paying tribute to successful women principals, he singled out Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching for her achievement (in having turned around a one-time failing school in Tawau).
Meanwhile, the CM said good begets good, and if the Government and its leaders are good-hearted, the people, including womenfolk, should reciprocate by supporting the Government.
"We recognise the fact that generally, women are grateful for the help given by the Government.
There is no reason for women not to stand solidly behind the Government," he said to applause.
At this juncture, Musa said Malaysian women are fortunate to have a caring Prime Minister like Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak who have listened to women's voices and acceded to their requests within the Government's capacity.
The CM later presented tokens of appreciation to members of the outgoing Council who were present - Datuk Mariati Robert, Datuk Margaret Fung, Datuk Mary Yap Kain Ching, Dr Maria Suleiman, Dr Lungkiam Dambul, Hjh Rosmawati Lasuki, Norliah Abdul Jalil and Baiyah Awang Mahmon.

PKR Guna Israel Untuk PRU13?
ReplyDeleteMedia sebelum ini mendedahkan firma lobi Amerika Syarikat (AS), Orion Strategies telah mengatur perjumpaan wakil Suaram (Suara Rakyat Malaysia) dengan Ahli Kongres AS bagi mendapatkan kepakaran untuk menghadapi Pilihan raya Umum ke-13 (PRu-13).
Untuk melaksanakan misi ‘perwakilan Malaysia’ itu, Mike Mitchell bagi pihak Orion Strategies dilaporkan telah menghubungi Hana Atuatasi, kakitangan Kongres untuk mengatur perjumpaan tersebut.
Mitchell juga turut menamakan dua delegasi Malaysia iaitu Pengarah Suaram Cynthia Gabriel, dan Pengarah Merdeka Centre, Ibrahim Suffian, dua NGO yang mendapat tajaan yayasan AS, National Endowment for Democracy (NED) dan Open Society Institute (OSI) yang mana organisasi diketahui menyokong penuh Ketua Pembangkang, Anwar Ibrahim.

ReplyDeleteOrion Strategies menurut sourcewatch.org adalah badan pelobi milik kumpulan neo-konservatif atau lebih dikenali sebagai Yahudi yang mencipta ‘Project for the New American Century‘ (PNAC).
Salah satu pelanggan Orion Strategies adalah Open Society Policy Center (OSPC), badan yang ditaja penyangak mata wang Yahudi, George Soros.
Mesyuarat antara wakil Malaysia dengan Kongres sepatutnya diadakan pada 14 dan 15 Mac, namun kandungan e-mel tidak menyatakan sama ada mesyuarat itu berlaku atau sebaliknya.
Malah, semakan media juga mendapati Strategi Orion diketuai oleh Randy Scheunemann, bekas penasihat kepada bekas Setiausaha Pertahanan Donald Rumsfeld, dari parti Republikan AS.
Scheunemann digambarkan sebagai neo-konservatif, yang juga pernah berkhidmat untuk calon presiden Republikan, John McCain sebagai penasihat semasa pilihanraya Presiden AS 2008.

ReplyDeleteAnwar juga sekitar tahun 2006 hingga 2007 pernah berkhidmat kepada Jabatan Negara AS, di bawah naungan Paul Wolfowitz, juga dari parti Republikan.
Walau bagaimana pun, Pengarah Strategik PKR, Rafizi Ramli menafikan perkara itu dan menganggap sebagai gimik pilihanraya.
Rafizi juga menganggap parti pembangkang itu mempunyai tokoh yang berkaliber dan tidak memerlukan bantuan luar. Siapa? Rafizi?
Malah turut difahamkan, Orion juga akan membawa pengarah Suaram itu ke Washington.
Apabila PR menggunakan khidmat Yahudi ini, sudah pasti kaedah dan cara politik mereka serta pentadbiran mereka umpama kumpulan neo-konservatif.
Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah memerhati segala tindak-tanduk Parti Maju Sabah (SAPP) dan Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) yang dilihat gagal mencapai kata sepakat sebagai pembangkang di Sabah.
