Stadium Petaling Jaya in Kelana Jaya is currently overflowing with tens of thousands of people for the rally to protest the controversial election which saw Barisan Nasional scrape a narrow victory last weekend.
Pakatan Rakyat leaders are taking turns to address the huge crowd, which also filled up every inch of the field. It is estimated that easily over 100,000 people have gathered at the venue.
Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim is due to speak tonight to launch what he has described as "a fierce movement to clean this country from election malpractices and fraud".
Anwar has vowed to dedicate his full energy and time to expose the electoral frauds, while others have called for a referendum to decide the future of the present Election Commission. -HD

Polis menyiasat perhimpunan pakatan pembangkang di Stadium Kelana Jaya, di sini malam tadi mengikut Seksyen 9(5) Akta Perhimpunan Aman (PPA) 2012 dan Seksyen 4(1) Akta Hasutan.
ReplyDeleteKetua Polis Selangor, Datuk Tun Hisan Tun Hamzah, ketika dihubungi BH, berkata tindakan mengikut Seksyen 9(5) PPA berikutan kegagalan penganjur memaklumkan kepada polis 10 hari lebih awal sebelum mengadakan perhimpunan di tempat awam, manakala tindakan kedua pula berhubung isi kandungan ceramah yang disampaikan dalam perhimpunan itu.
ReplyDelete“Notis hanya dihantar beberapa jam sebelum perhimpunan berlangsung.
ReplyDeleteThe Prime Minister said he hoped the opposition will accept the result of the upcoming 13th general election and do not find excuse to cause chaos if they lose.
ReplyDeleteDatuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the opposition should respect the decision of the people because it was a topmost principle in the parliamentary democracy system practiced in this country.
ReplyDelete“We must accept whatever is the decision of the people. If they believe in democracy, they cannot reject something which has been decided by the people.
ReplyDelete“If we uphold the principles of parliamentary democracy, this is the fact,” he told a media conference after chairing an Umno Supreme Council meeting.
ReplyDeleteLAPORAN POLIS SEPANJANG PRU-13
ReplyDeleteKEDAH

SELAMAT TINGGAL PRU-13
The dust is still settling on GE13. The post-election analysis is still underway, on all sides, those who accept the democratic verdict of the rakyat, and those who are unwilling to do so.
ReplyDeleteYet Malaysia should be justly proud of the results of the Thirteenth General Elections. On that day, we voted and carried on with our lives as citizens of a mature democracy. Although the lead up to GE13 was partisan and divisive, we had hoped to move forward together afterward, no matter the result. Yet the aftermath is becoming worse, with accusations of bad faith on the part of the de facto leader of the opposition, and evidence of racial and class polarisation everywhere.
This should not be. There are examples before us of how to act.
Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, whose relations with the Chinese community were rocky at best in the past, echoed that call. Responding to reports that MCA will not take any appointed government posts, he said, "If there are no Chinese in the government, the situation will not be good for the country because all along we believe in co-operation between the races."
ReplyDeleteNot all quarters agree. Perak's Pakatan Rakyat state assemblymen refused to attend the swearing in of Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir as Menteri Besar, claiming that the election results were fraudulent. This was mere days after state Pakatan head Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin told assembled reporters, "We respect the people's decision and openly accept this defeat."
The danger of this sort of bitterness is not increased partisanship. Malaysia's democracy has matured enough that voters can see through partisan accusations and fighting.
ReplyDeleteThe danger is that civil society will begin to deteriorate as accusations and counter-accusations fly. Pakatan supporters will believe that the government is not legitimate and cannot be trusted. Barisan supporters will believe that the Opposition is not legitimate, and is willing to sacrifice peace and security for power. Worse, those in the middle will become cynical about society in general.
Elections cannot be allowed to destroy the racial and religious harmony we enjoy here.
ReplyDeleteDisputes over election results should be handled in the courts, not in the streets.
We are one rakyat. Now is the time to show it.
Former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad commended Sabah and Sarawak's role in the GE13 by contributing many seats to BN, and expressed hope that they would be better represented in the government.
ReplyDelete"At the moment, they still believe in the principle of cooperation although it is disappointing that the Chinese rejected it, but there were sufficient non-Chinese there to win seats," he said.
He also said the Chinese community should not be sidelined in the Government, as the fact remained that there were Chinese who supported Barisan Nasional in the recent general election.
ReplyDeleteHe questioned that in the event that if there were no Chinese ministers in the cabinet, then who would represent the community.
ReplyDelete"It would be a tricky thing to not have MCA leaders appointed (to the cabinet) because if there are no Chinese representatives, the situation will not be good for the government or country," he told a press conference at the Perdana Leadership Foundation building, here.
ReplyDeleteDr Mahathir was earlier asked to comment on the decision made by the MCA top leadership not to accept any position in the state or federal government after faring worse in the recent general election compared to 2008.
ReplyDeleteAsked whether the opposition-DAP should be invited by the BN government and given a chance to represent the Chinese community instead, he said it was up to BN.
ReplyDelete"It depends on the Chinese (DAP) if they want to participate or not, but I'm quite sure the DAP would not want to participate unless they are in a dominant position," he said.
ReplyDeleteAsked on the suggestion by certain non-governmental organisations for PAS to work with Umno for a better future for the Malays and Muslims, he said cooperation between the two parties was possible.
ReplyDelete"I don't know whether it is best or not, but obviously there have to be some give and take.
ReplyDeleteUmno cannot insist on this and that and nor can PAS. There must be some adjustments made, then only will cooperation between the two be possible," he said.
Pakatan Rakyat said it has received a guarantee from Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Ismail Omar that the cops will merely take on a facilitatory role during the planned Jan 12 rally at Stadium Merdeka.
ReplyDelete"The IGP said he wants this rally to be a historic moment where the police can learn from their past weaknesses," said PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution after meeting the IGP today.
ReplyDelete"They (police) will strive to give their best service to ensure the rights of everyone according to law are respected."
ReplyDeleteHe said the police had also said they will provide marshals to guide journalists during the rally, based on provisions in the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.
ReplyDeletePAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu had led a delegation of 11, including Saifuddin, to Ismail's office in Bukit Aman at 2.30pm.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo, this is going to make Anwar driving mad.

ReplyDeleteThe people seems not agree with the election result that may involve many fraud activities.
