May 6: Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has issued a stern warning to prime minister Najib Razak and the Election Commission following the discovery of electoral frauds committed by Barisan Nasional during the just-concluded general election.
"Najib Razak and the Election Commission had chosen to ignore the wishes of the rakyat at their own peril despite their earlier pronouncements towards free and fair election," said Anwar in his first official statement since BN controversially won yesterday's polls.
Anwar said Pakatan Rakyat will not accept results "conjured through frauds and cheating".
"My heart is with every Malaysian who does not accept the results," he said, referring to a general sense of disappointment in many parts of the country today.
Anwar vowed to devote his time and "utmost energy" to work with influential electoral reforms coalition Bersih as well as the public until a newly constituted and independent Election Commission was formed.
He also urged Malaysians to attend a major post-election rally at the Petaling Jaya stadium in Kelana Jaya this Wednesday, at 8.30 pm, where he will deliver his first speech since the end of campaign period last Saturday.
"The movement for change is unstoppable. The simple demand of the rakyat for a clean and fair election to ensure our elected government is accountable, transparent and incorruptible will continue to echo loudly in spite of the rigged 13th General Election," said Anwar. -HD

"BN would have also cried foul play in the three states controlled by the opposition but it did not and instead respect the decision of the voters in the three states.

"We suffered some losses but overall, Sabah BN was able to deliver 22 out of the 25 MP seats to form the Federal Government," he said, adding that BN won in all the grey seats such as Tuaran, Beaufort, Tawau, Pensiangan and Keningau, among others. Ambrose said with the mandate, BN will be able to continue its transformation programmes in its aspiration to become a developed nation with high income by 2020.

There would be many winners and many more losers, without taking into consideration the multitude of supporters on both sides, who would undoubtedly feel that they have won or lost.

ReplyDeleteLooking at it from a more philosophical angle, even the losers could be considered winners if they can sincerely appreciate the positive values of their opponents which have met the approval of the voters. In that way, they would have achieved additional views of their shortcomings, and thus could feel that they have "won" new knowledge that they have not seen before.

ReplyDeleteIt is interesting to note that in the US, they are still debating on the necessity to produce IDs before they can cast their ballots. The state of Virginia had just approved a law on March 26 this year to make it compulsory for voters to produce an ID before getting a ballot paper, as reported in the Time magazine's April 13 issue.

ReplyDeleteThe point the analyst wants to make is this: that the popular vote is not the deciding factor in a democratic election, not even in the US elections. And certainly popular votes don’t suggest fraud, rigging, black magic, etc. If they do, then the Americans would have Al Gore, who, incidentally, was a good buddy for Anwar Ibrahim, as its President instead of Bush.
ReplyDeleteIn Malaysia, popular votes don’t decide who form the government at Federal level. They never did. It is the number of parliamentary seats you win. Simple as that. Malaysians have done that over and over against for 13 general elections and hundreds of by-elections. And if Anwar Ibrahim tells you that BN cheated because Pakatan got more of the popular votes, then he’s just found an excuse to stay on in politics instead of keeping his word about quitting if he does not become PM after PRU13.

Ada dakwaan wujud pengundi hantu, kita tidak mengatakan wujud pengundi hantu, sebab pengundi hantu ni payah nak dibuktikan, bila seseorang itu ada kad pengenalan, dan kemudian dia boleh mengundi, maka dia sepatutnya dibenarkan mengundi, saya agak bimbang ada orang yang menahan pengundi daripada pengundi, walaupun dia ada kad pengenalan, semata-mata dia kelihatan macam warga negara asing".
Bagaimanapun, Ideas dan CPPS mengesyorkan agar usaha perlu dilakukan bagi memperbaiki daftar pemilih, menerusi Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara, di samping persempadanan semula kawasan pilihan raya, agar jumlah pengundi di sesuatu kawasan lebih seimbang.

ReplyDeletekajian mengenai 'Pandangan Masyarakat Terhadap SPR' mendapati sebanyak 71.3 peratus kaum Melayu, 59.2 peratus (Cina), 67.4 peratus (India), Bumiputera Sabah (78.6 peratus) dan Bumiputera Sarawak (58.8 peratus) berpendapat badan itu bebas daripada kerajaan.

Election Commission (EC) deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar has denied allegation that a ballot box for Putrajaya parliamentary was left behind.

ReplyDeleteJika lihat tweet Azmin, emosinya nampak terganggu.Mengapa? Kenapa agkanya ya dia seakan meroyan kepada Anwar Ibrahim dan punca-puncanya seakan dapat kita ramal kan heeheee?
ReplyDeleteApabila Azmin dah tahu dia tidak akan dilantik menjadi Menteri Besar Selangor biarpun Selangor berjaya dijajah lagi oleh Pakatan Pembangkang. Kerana Anwar Ibrahim perlu mendengar kata-kata DAP setelah DAP menguasai Pakatan Pembangkang.
ReplyDelete38 Kerusi menjadikan DAP lebih dominan dalam Pakatan serta menjadikan Anwar sebagai boneka mereka jika Anwar masih mahukan kuasa. Azmin nampak benda ini dan DAP tahu Azmin budak yang susah untuk dikawal.
ReplyDeleteSekarang DAP mahukan boneka lama mereka iaitu Khalid Ibrahim untuk jadi Menteri Besar, malahan Khalid juga nama yang diterima oleh Istana. Azmin ditolak mentah-mentah oleh Anwar yang mungkin dahulu sudah berjanji mahu berikan kerusi MB kepada dia.
ReplyDeleteSekarang Azmin dah melalak. Apa Anwar nak buat? Berapa ramai DAP dan PAS yang akan jadi Exco di Selangor memandangkan kerusi 15 DAP 15 PAS dan 14 PKR? Siapa yang berkuasa sekarang?
