May 6: Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has issued a stern warning to prime minister Najib Razak and the Election Commission following the discovery of electoral frauds committed by Barisan Nasional during the just-concluded general election.
"Najib Razak and the Election Commission had chosen to ignore the wishes of the rakyat at their own peril despite their earlier pronouncements towards free and fair election," said Anwar in his first official statement since BN controversially won yesterday's polls.
Anwar said Pakatan Rakyat will not accept results "conjured through frauds and cheating".
"My heart is with every Malaysian who does not accept the results," he said, referring to a general sense of disappointment in many parts of the country today.
Anwar vowed to devote his time and "utmost energy" to work with influential electoral reforms coalition Bersih as well as the public until a newly constituted and independent Election Commission was formed.
He also urged Malaysians to attend a major post-election rally at the Petaling Jaya stadium in Kelana Jaya this Wednesday, at 8.30 pm, where he will deliver his first speech since the end of campaign period last Saturday.
"The movement for change is unstoppable. The simple demand of the rakyat for a clean and fair election to ensure our elected government is accountable, transparent and incorruptible will continue to echo loudly in spite of the rigged 13th General Election," said Anwar. -HD

PAKATAN SHOULD NOT HAVE RECOGNISED THE GENERAL ELECTION RESULT IN STATES WHERE THEY HAVE WON
ReplyDeletePenampang Umno took Pakatan Rakyat to task for rejecting the overall general election results but recognising the outcome in areas where it favoured them like Penang, Kelantan and Selangor.
PAKATAN SHOULD NOT HAVE RECOGNISED THE GENERAL ELECTION RESULT IN STATES WHERE THEY HAVE WON
ReplyDeletePenampang Umno Chief, Datuk John Ambrose, said: "Pakatan has sworn in their Penang Chief Minister, Kelantan Menteri Besar and will soon be swearing in their Selangor Menteri Besar. If they do not recognise the results, they should not have recognised it in states where they have won. This is hypocrisy."
PAKATAN SHOULD NOT HAVE RECOGNISED THE GENERAL ELECTION RESULT IN STATES WHERE THEY HAVE WON
ReplyDeleteAmbrose was commenting on Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's statement that it will protest Barisan Nasional's victory in the 13th General Election and will be calling a rally Wednesday to reject the outcome as it was achieved through electoral fraud.
PAKATAN SHOULD NOT HAVE RECOGNISED THE GENERAL ELECTION RESULT IN STATES WHERE THEY HAVE WON
ReplyDeleteAmbrose said if Anwar claimed that the election was won by BN through dubious means, then Anwar should not have allowed the taking of oath in the states that it won. "BN would have also cried foul play in the three states controlled by the opposition but it did not and instead respect the decision of the voters in the three states.
PAKATAN SHOULD NOT HAVE RECOGNISED THE GENERAL ELECTION RESULT IN STATES WHERE THEY HAVE WON
ReplyDeleteBN has been magnanimous in its victory as well as defeat and Anwar should do likewise," said Ambrose. He said as the election is over, Anwar should assist in the progress of the people and country.
PAKATAN SHOULD NOT HAVE RECOGNISED THE GENERAL ELECTION RESULT IN STATES WHERE THEY HAVE WON
ReplyDelete"If he is unhappy with the results, he should file petitions in court and challenge it instead of taking to the streets and making unsubstantiated statements," he said.
PAKATAN SHOULD NOT HAVE RECOGNISED THE GENERAL ELECTION RESULT IN STATES WHERE THEY HAVE WON
ReplyDeleteHe said protesting will not bring about any good for the country as business as well as foreign investor confidence in Malaysia would be affected. "We cannot afford to jeopardise the peace and security of the country which take years to build as we move forward to achieve developed country status through Vision 2020," he said.
PAKATAN SHOULD NOT HAVE RECOGNISED THE GENERAL ELECTION RESULT IN STATES WHERE THEY HAVE WON
ReplyDeleteAmbrose said Penampang Umno fully supported Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Datuk Seri Musa Hj Aman in leading the country and state, respectively, again. "The combination of Najib and Musa has bring about much progress and development to Sabah and we are happy that this arrangement will continue," he said.
PAKATAN SHOULD NOT HAVE RECOGNISED THE GENERAL ELECTION RESULT IN STATES WHERE THEY HAVE WON
ReplyDeleteAmbrose said the election results also indicated that Sabah remained the fixed deposit" state for BN.
"We suffered some losses but overall, Sabah BN was able to deliver 22 out of the 25 MP seats to form the Federal Government," he said, adding that BN won in all the grey seats such as Tuaran, Beaufort, Tawau, Pensiangan and Keningau, among others. Ambrose said with the mandate, BN will be able to continue its transformation programmes in its aspiration to become a developed nation with high income by 2020.
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeleteTHE outcome of the 13th General Election (GE13) has been widely known as covered extensively by both the electronic and print media. There would be many winners and many more losers, without taking into consideration the multitude of supporters on both sides, who would undoubtedly feel that they have won or lost.
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeleteLooking at it from a more philosophical angle, even the losers could be considered winners if they can sincerely appreciate the positive values of their opponents which have met the approval of the voters. In that way, they would have achieved additional views of their shortcomings, and thus could feel that they have "won" new knowledge that they have not seen before.
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, the winners could be considered losers if they fail to see why a section of the electorate did not vote for them, no matter how small the number may be.
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeletePolitical parties, too, should take this same viewpoint and not just put the blame on the opposing political parties. They must strive to look deeper into their shortcomings, find ways to overcome them and not just put the blame on others.
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeleteIt would be prudent for both winners and losers to ponder deeply and try to share the thoughts of a well known philosopher, Beaumont, who stated: "We should correct our own faults by seeing how uncomely they appear in others".
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeleteIn this season where the exchange of congratulations is widespread, we should be thankful and congratulate ourselves for having a very democratic system embedded in the constitution of our country, which guarantees a system of checks and balances between the rulers, the government in power and the people.
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeleteThe mechanism that manages the election is appointed by the ruler and not the government in power, and as such, is unbiased and transparent in carrying out its task.
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeleteSpeaking about transparency, we should be glad that we have practised a system in elections that can be much more foolproof than even those practised by the so-called more democratic countries like the United States.
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeleteAs an example, we have a system whereby every voter is required to produce his or her MyKad to be counter-checked with the electoral register before he is given the ballot paper, ever since we started our first election.
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting to note that in the US, they are still debating on the necessity to produce IDs before they can cast their ballots. The state of Virginia had just approved a law on March 26 this year to make it compulsory for voters to produce an ID before getting a ballot paper, as reported in the Time magazine's April 13 issue.
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeleteWhile appreciating a good electoral system, we should also congratulate Election Commission chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof, a government pensioner, who with his team managed to do a splendid job for GE13, in the midst of uncalled-for criticisms.
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeleteLet us settle whatever differences we may have by referring to the appropriate authorities or to the established laws of the country and not take the law into our own hands.
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeleteIt is the adherence to this philosophy that has charted the successful cooperation with the legally elected state government of Selangor, which proved to be a successful and advantageous solution for both the state government and the Government Pensioners of Selangor since 2008.
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeleteNow that GE13 is over, which has left some negative side-effects, it becomes more important for the government pensioners, who represent the matured and knowledgeable section of our citizens, to take a leading role in forging better understanding between citizens who may harbour ideological differences in politics, ethnic origins and religious denominations, to set aside their differences and join hands in making Malaysia a better place to live in.
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeleteAfter all, as an non-governmental organisation, our members are made up of citizens from different racial origins, holding different religious beliefs and coming from different social strata as a proven group able to work shoulder to shoulder in the government service, developing Malaysia to the stage that we are proud of today.
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeleteWhy can't we spread this same culture to the younger generation so that they, too, can inherit the harmonious and prosperous Malaysia that we have enjoyed?
BOTH WINNERS AND LOSERS NEED TO CORRECT THEIR OWN FAULT
ReplyDeleteEven in the state of so-called retirement, we have a part to play to ensure that we can still contribute to society so that we leave to our children and future generations a united and prosperous Malaysia. Let us pray to God the Almighty to give us the help, strength and ability to contribute to the wellbeing of our nation.
Malaysian police have declared illegal a rally planned for Wednesday night by opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim to protest against election results that he says were "stolen" through massive fraud.
ReplyDeleteThe organiser must comply with the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012. Marching without a permit, aimed at arousing anger, is wrong according to the law.
ReplyDeleteFORMER prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said the rally organised by opposition parties at the Kelana Jaya Stadium yesterday was because they could not accept the defeat in Sunday's 13th General Election (GE13).
ReplyDelete“If they didn’t lose, of course they won’t protest. This is difficult, trying to pressure the government, trying to create problems. But actually, I’m glad that they are doing it inside a stadium.
ReplyDelete"But I’m quite sure very soon, they will move from the stadium and take to the streets and cause lot of problems to business people and traders especially hawkers," he said.
ReplyDeleteHe added that he had received information that financial assistance had been chanelled into Malaysia by foreign parties like George Soros and several European nations including Germany but he did not know who the recipients were.
ReplyDeleteDr Mahathir said this to reporters after receiving the "Master Foreign Going" award which carries the title of Captain from the Malaysia Harbour Pilots Association) (MHAPA).
ReplyDeleteThe rally which was attended by thousands of opposition supporters was aimed at protesting the GE13 results after the Pakatan Rakyat (PKR-DAP-PAS pact) failed to get the mandate to form the federal government.
ReplyDelete“Though Gore came in second in the electoral vote, he received 543,895 more popular votes than Bush in 2000. “This marked only the fourth election in U.S. history in which the eventual winner failed to win a plurality of the popular vote (after the elections of 1824,1876, and 1888) “In the 2012 election, House Democrats won a plurality nation-wide with 1.4 million more votes,[9][10] but the Republicans were able to retain a 234-to-201 seat majority due to their advantage in the congressional redistricting process following the 2010 United States Census,[11][12][13] and because many Democratic votes were concentrated into urban and minority districts.[14] In the previous century, on four occasions the party with a plurality of the popular vote was unable to receive a majority in the House, but only once since World War II.[15] The last time was in 1996, where the GOP kept the House for similar reasons.[16][17].”
ReplyDeleteThe point the analyst wants to make is this: that the popular vote is not the deciding factor in a democratic election, not even in the US elections. And certainly popular votes don’t suggest fraud, rigging, black magic, etc. If they do, then the Americans would have Al Gore, who, incidentally, was a good buddy for Anwar Ibrahim, as its President instead of Bush.
ReplyDeleteIn Malaysia, popular votes don’t decide who form the government at Federal level. They never did. It is the number of parliamentary seats you win. Simple as that. Malaysians have done that over and over against for 13 general elections and hundreds of by-elections. And if Anwar Ibrahim tells you that BN cheated because Pakatan got more of the popular votes, then he’s just found an excuse to stay on in politics instead of keeping his word about quitting if he does not become PM after PRU13.
ReplyDeleteOh, by the way, Washington says it is looking forward to working with Najib, the democratically-elected Prime Minister of Malaysia.
WAN SAIFUL WAN JAN / KETUA EKSEKUTIF IDEAS
ReplyDeleteTAN SRI DR RAMON NAVARATNAM / PENGERUSI CPPS
ReplyDelete"Overall, it's a credible election result. We are very much aware of that kind of criticism of the public, and we try to be eagle eyed, in looking at the procedures very carefully, honestly at the hand of my heart, I came out, there is no evidence, of any cheating or fraud, irregularities within the poll".
Majoriti rakyat negara ini yakin Suruhanjaya Pilihan Raya (SPR) mampu mengurus Pilihan Raya Umum ke-13 (PRU-13) berdasarkan kajian mengenai 'Pandangan Masyarakat Terhadap SPR' yang dilakukan Majlis Profesor Negara (MPN) membabitkan 3,756 responden di seluruh negara.
ReplyDeletekajian mengenai 'Pandangan Masyarakat Terhadap SPR' mendapati sebanyak 71.3 peratus kaum Melayu, 59.2 peratus (Cina), 67.4 peratus (India), Bumiputera Sabah (78.6 peratus) dan Bumiputera Sarawak (58.8 peratus) berpendapat badan itu bebas daripada kerajaan.
ReplyDeleteSetiausaha Kluster Politik, Keselamatan dan Hal Ehwal Antarabangsa, Prof Dr Mansor Mohd Noor berkata lebih 70 peratus responden berpendapat SPR berjaya mengurus pilihan raya sebelum ini dengan baik.

ReplyDeleteNo need to scare about him.
ReplyDeleteHe is a toothless man
ReplyDeleteNajib shouldn't have scared over Anwar because he has no position at all
ReplyDeleteJangan cepat melenting
ReplyDeleteDia nak buat apa biarkan dia
ReplyDeleteI bet he is a coward
ReplyDeletePlease la kalau takut nak keluar tu baik jan kluar
ReplyDeleteWhole system is fair and square
Election Commission (EC) deputy chairman Datuk Wan Ahmad Wan Omar has denied allegation that a ballot box for Putrajaya parliamentary was left behind.
ReplyDeleteHe said this was not possible since the counting and tally of votes were witnessed by foreign observers and agents of political parties.
ReplyDelete“Too many untrue stories were spread via the social media. The vote tally process went on smoothly. Why make up stories?” he told a press conference at EC headquarters here.
ReplyDeleteIn addition, he also denied that vote-counting agents in Lembah Pantai were driven away by the presiding officer after a polling station was closed.
ReplyDeleteWan Ahmad said such allegation was only intended to slander and tarnish the EC image.
ReplyDeleteIndependent observers debunked claims made by the Opposition that the 13th general election (GE13) was fraudulent and the results invalid.
ReplyDeleteMajor dailies today reported that three organisations – Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (Ideas), Centre for Public Police Studies (CPPS) and Asian Leadership and Strategic Institute (Asli) have all agreed that no wrong-doing was detected in the handling of GE13 and the results are trustworthy.
ReplyDeleteThe Malay Mail cited the observers as saying that there was no evidence of cheating or fraud, unlike the claims made by Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim upon learning that Pakatan Rakyat (PR) only managed to secure 89 parliamentary seats last Sunday.
ReplyDeleteGE13 saw the ruling government Barisan Nasional (BN) retaining power by a simple majority of 139 parliamentary seats.
ReplyDeleteHowever, Anwar, who was confident of making a clean sweep, had sent a message via his Twitter account @anwaribrahim before the results were announced, claiming that PR had already won the elections and asked for Umno and the Election Commission (EC) to not hijack the results.
ReplyDeleteHe then issued a statement, rejecting the GE13 results after it was confirmed that Pakatan did not manage to take over Putrajaya as previously claimed.
ReplyDeleteLast night, PR organised a 'Suara Keramat Suara Rakyat' rally at Stadium MBPJ in Kelana Jaya as a protest against the EC and GE13 results. In his speech, Anwar urged the rakyat to rise against the results, while referring to Datuk Seri Najib Razak as Malaysia's 'temporary Prime Minister in an invalid regime'.
ReplyDeleteMajor newspapers in the country published news reports indicating that independent observers, in their interim reports submitted to the EC, found no evidence of cheating, fraud or irregularities, although they did list several points in which the elections could have been conducted better and more equitably.
ReplyDeleteThe points mentioned include the heavy dominance of the mainstream media by the ruling coalition as well as the lack of transparency in political funding.
ReplyDeleteIdeas CEO, Wan Saiful Wan Jan was quoted by the New Straits Times as saying, "I think the result is credible because we followed the process," adding that to further improve the EC's efficiency, it should be given the power to recruit and manage its own staff, independently from the civil service.
ReplyDeleteCPPS chairman and renowned economist, Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam said the results were legitimate and urged all parties to accept it.
ReplyDeleteHe was quoted in Utusan Malaysia, "The process on Sunday went on smoothly and was monitored by each party's agents the whole time.
ReplyDelete"We were at Damansara, Petaling Jaya, Bangsar, and Segambut and honestly, we could not find any evidence of cheating."
ReplyDeleteIt should serve as a venerable mention that Wan Saiful is a lifetime PAS member and that he himself found no irregularities in the EC's conduct of GE13.
ReplyDeleteWhile Anwar has deemed the results invalid, he should also address why Kelantan and Penang, both won by the Opposition, have already taken to installing their respective leaders of the state.
ReplyDeleteLim Guan Eng on Tuesday had taken the oath of office as Penang's Chief Minister and Datuk Ahmad Yaakob has also been sworn in as Kelantan Menteri Besar, taking over from Datuk Seri Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof slammed those who refused to accept the GE13 results, saying they were using the EC as a mere scapegoat in their refusal to accept defeat.
ReplyDeleteAzmin dah mula mempersoalkan mengapa Pakatan Pembangkang gagal menuju ke Putrajaya? inilah jawapan Azmin Kerana Anwar sendiri yang gagal kan?
ReplyDeleteJika lihat tweet Azmin, emosinya nampak terganggu.Mengapa?
ReplyDeleteSekarang Azmin dah melalak. Apa Anwar nak buat?
Apakah penjelasannya?
