Sabah floods recede but Moyog river level still high

KOTA KINABALU: Floods waters have receded in affected areas here but the state continues to be on alert for more floodings.

By 5pm Tuesday, some 128 people, who were evacuated to relief centres, were allowed to return home, said Penampang district officer William Sampil.

"The situation is improving but we are continuing to monitor as the Moyog river level is still high," he said adding that the weather remains a concern.

On the at the Penampang –Tambunan road, he said that the road had been cleared by for traffic to pass.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman has instructed all relevant agencies to remain on the alert, especially in the west coast areas.

"The Natural Disaster Committee at all level should also be in the full state of preparedness to face any possibilities in their respective areas," he said.
