Tanda Putera producer FINALLY apologises to Kit Siang

After a year, Tanda Putera producer FINALLY apologises to Kit Siang over urinating photo
A year long controversy on a photograph with a caption accusing DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang of urinating at the flagpole of a Selangor Menteri Besar’s house on May 13, 1969 race riots may have come to an end following an apology issued to Lim by producer of controversial film “Tanda Putera”.

“We, Messrs Pesona Pictures Sdn Bhd, unreservedly apologise to Mr Lim Kit Siang for the embarrassment caused by the aforementioned publicationwhich is devoid of truth,” said Pesona in a letter posted on Tanda Putera’s official Facebook page yesterday.

The apology came amid Lim’s decision to take legal action against UMNO-owned Utusan Malaysia and former deputy minister, Mohd Puad Zarkashi on their remarks made based on the false caption on the urinating photograph.

The caption that read “Lim Kit Siang had urinated at the foot of the flagpole bearing the Selangor flag at the then Selangor MB Harun Idris’ house” was totally untrue, Pesona explained.

Pesona also claimed the publication of the photograph was just a pure, innocent mistake made without any malice or bad faith.

It was published by an administrator of their Facebook account, who obtained it through a subscriber’s comment attaching a link to another blog.

“Innocently believing the same to be in some manner relevant to the movie Tanda Putera, he proceeded to copy and save them onto the Facebook’s photo album,” Pesona explained.

Former senior officer Yuen Yuet Leng, who served during the racial riot had confirmed that the urinating scene in Tanda Putera was a complete fabrication.

“I can also confirm with you, as I was on duty at the time, that the urination incident never happened,” Yuen was quoted saying by The Malay Mail Online.

Now, what takes Pesona so long to issue this apology?
