Two PAS reps risk disciplinary action

Two PAS representatives in the Selangor State Assembly have openly declared their opposition to Khalid Ibrahim’s decision to hold on to the Menteri Besar post despite his sacking from PKR.

In doing so, the two – Saari Sungib of Hulu Kelang and Hasnul Baharuddin of Morib -are risking disciplinary action by PAS, which will decide its official stand on the issue only this Sunday.

Both said they believed they were not going against party policy, with Saari adding that he would maintain his support for PKR President Wan Azizah to take over Khalid’s post despite the possibility of being punished by PAS.

Saari is known to be a strong supporter of opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim. He was a member of the PKR Supreme Council before joining PAS.

In recent days, he has been calling on the PAS leadership to support PKR’s decision to expel Khalid from the party.
