Former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is one of the first drivers of Proton Iriz, as he was seen driving the latest Proton car along with other Proton executives.
Dr Mahathir, who is known as the father of modern Malaysia, surprised the public when he drove the car heading to The Loaf, Pavilion for breakfast.
Proton Iriz will be launched on September 25 at Proton factory at Tanjung Malim.
The fourth Prime Minister, who is 89 this year, was the one who conceived the idea of a Malaysian made car which in some ways put Malaysia on the automotive map.
The first Malaysian made car, Proton Saga, was commercially launched in 1985 in collaboration with Mitsubishi Motors, Japan.
Proton Iriz is the latest model and will be launched by the end of this month.
