Awie could face jail if convicted of injuring wife

KUALA LUMPUR: The Ampang Magistrate’s Court today set January 13 and 14 to hear the case of rock group Wings’ singer Awie, who is charged with hurting his wife in June last year.

Magistrate Ayuni Izzaty Sulaiman set the dates after Deputy Public Prosecutor Goh Ai Rene informed the court that the forensic report had been submitted to the defence through counsel Hazman Aaron, who is representing Awie.

On July 4, Awie, 46, whose real name is Ahmad Azhar Othman, pleaded not guilty to intentionally causing serious injury to Rozana Misbun, 36, at a house in Taman Ukay Bistari, Ukay Perdana, Hulu Kelang at 1.30pm on June 2 last year.

Awie, who played the lead role in the movies ‘Zombie Kampung Pisang’ and ‘Hantu Kak Limah’, was charged under Section 325 of the Penal Code which provides for a maximum prison sentence of seven years and a fine, if convicted.

Roger Moore ‘distraught’ about death of iconic Bond villain Richard Kiel

Roger Moore is among those mourning the passing of iconic Bond villain Richard Kiel.

“I am totally distraught to learn of my dear friend Richard Kiel's passing,” he tweeted Wednesday. “We were on a radio programme together just a week ago. Distraught.

“Can’t take it in,” he added.

The actors appeared in two 007 films together, 1977’s “The Spy Who Loved Me” and 1979’s “Moonraker,” in which Moore’s James Bond faced off against the steel-toothed villain Jaws, played by Kiel.

The 86-year-old actor recently spoke with BBC Radio Wales to share his remembrances of his late co-star.

I heard about three hours ago, and it came as quite a shock, because about a week ago, we were recording for BBC 4's ‘The Reunion’ program,” he said.

Moore said that Kiel, who called into the interview from his home in Fresno, Calif., “sounded very, very fragile.”

“We didn’t know this, (but) he had surgery the day before (for) his leg, he’d had a fall, and was still half-anesthetized. But he still, being the pro that he was, he'd come in to do the show.

“He was a really wonderful guy,” he added. “For me, the simplest way to describe him is that he was a big man with an even bigger heart.”

Khloé ‘couldn’t handle French relationship’

Khloé Kardashian apparently ended her relationship with French Montana because she couldn’t “emotionally handle” it.

The reality TV star has been linked to the rapper since around April this year, but they’ve kept their romance relatively under wraps.

It follows her filing for divorce from Lamar Odom in December last year, after it was rumoured the basketball player was taking drugs and had been unfaithful. Yesterday reports surfaced that Khloé and French have taken a break, and now sources say it’s because she wasn’t ready for a new relationship.

“She ended the relationship, telling French she can't emotionally handle it,” an insider divulged to TMZ.

Apparently things were moving too fast for the 30-year-old, with French even thought to have bought her a Jeep for her birthday in June.
Sources say they “still get along and will hang out here and there”, but nothing more.

Yesterday, it was Us Weekly who reported the romance was over.
"They are on a break," an insider said. "The relationship got too heavy and Khloé needed to take a step back."

Another added French had become “needy”.

"It grated on her that he became so dependent on her," they said.

The news could come as somewhat of a relief for Khloé’s family. It’s thought her sisters Kim and Kourtney and mom Kris Jenner didn’t warm to her new beau, amidst fears he was using her for publicity.

In a Billboard interview, the musician even admitted he would “capitalise” on her fame. However, the brunette beauty seemed to hint on Twitter she didn’t care what his motives were.

"It's amusing to me that Y'all think I don't see it. I was the first one to see it. I just don't care (sic),” she wrote.

Lee Seung-hyun and Qi Wei celebrates marriage in Las Vegas

Following their impromptu wedding in Saipan back in August, Chinese actress and mainland-based American-Korean actor Lee Seung-hyun (also known as Nathan Lee) have finally registered their marriage and held the official wedding reception in Las Vegas.

As reported on Tencent Entertainment News, after registering their marriage on 7 September, the couple held their wedding the next day at the Caesar's Palace Hotel & Casino located at the Las Vegas Boulevard.

Though originally scheduled for an outdoor wedding, the reception eventually had to be moved indoors due to bad weather.

The entire ceremony was reported to be simple yet romantic. Lee even hired a translator to translate the English vows into Chinese for the guests, while he explained it sentence by sentence to Qi Wei.

Lee, who dated actress Ady An in the past, was speculated to have cheated on her with Qi Wei last year, whom he met while working together on the music video "Our". Though the two of them were also spotted having a secret vacation in Bangkok later on, both parties denied that they were dating.

However, in August this year, both Lee and Qi revealed that they got married while vacationing in Saipan, though the marriage wasn't legal yet as they have not filed their marriage registration, which they finally did in Las Vegas.

Yumiko Cheng holds Hong Kong reception

Ten months after their pre-wedding celebration in Thailand's Koh Samui last year, Cantopop singer Yumiko Cheng and husband Andy Leung finally held their wedding banquet in Hong Kong last week.

According to Hong Kong's On CC News, the couple celebrated their union in a larger traditional Chinese banquet at the Harbour Grand Kowloon Hotel on 4 September, with star-studded guests including Nicholas Tse, Chin Ka Lok and wife, Angela Tong, Sherman Chung, Cally Kwong, Deep Ng, Patrick Tse, Cheung Tat Ming, and Jade Kwan.

Yumiko was also accompanied by her bridesmaids, including celebrities Joey Yung, Charlene Choi, and Gillian Chung, who all wore matching pink dresses, while husband Andy arrived at the event with his groomsmen that include Edmond Leung, Wilfred Lau, and Sam Lee.

Since the couple has yet to officially register their marriage, they did not wear wedding bands, though Yumiko still flashed her four-carat diamond engagement ring.

Asked about their baby plans, Yumiko and husband revealed that they have no immediate plans for children and want to spend more time with each other for the time being.

The singer also expressed her gratitude towards EEG Chairman Albert Yeung, who generously paid a part of the banquet.

Second member of K-pop group dies from car crash

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — A second member of the South Korean band Ladies' Code died from injuries sustained from a motor accident, her management said Sunday.

Kwon Ri-sae, 23, died Sunday morning at a hospital in Suwon, just south of Seoul. She had been unconscious after undergoing hours of emergency brain surgery following Wednesday's accident, according to Polaris Entertainment agency spokeswoman Kim Eun-kyung.

Fellow band member Go Eun-bi died shortly after a van carrying the group crashed into a guard rail on a rain-drenched highway near Seoul.

Police suspect that the van driver may have been speeding on the wet road to meet a tight schedule. The National Forensic Service is currently investigating the accident. Inspector Lee Ho-dong said the police will call in the driver, who was treated for a mild injury, for more questioning.

Another member of the five-member group fractured her jaw and two others suffered minor injuries.

Ladies' Code debuted last year.

South Korea singer says he hit girlfriend

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Popular South Korean singer and actor Kim Hyun-joong acknowledged he hit his then-girlfriend during an argument in May, police said Wednesday.

The woman, who also hit Kim, was struck multiple times and had bruises on her arms and scratches on her knees, according to police inspector Chung Chae-min, who added that the woman told authorities she needed two weeks of hospital treatment

Kim told police during questioning that the fight was mutual and they became entangled, but he said he didn't remember where he hit her or how often, according to Chung.

"But this wasn't one of those fights where one person got angry and slapped the other person," the police inspector said. "The action was more severe than that."

Chung said Kim and the woman may be questioned further before police decide whether to send the case to prosecutors for a possible indictment.

The 28-year-old Kim debuted with the boy band SS501 in 2005 and then made a splash as an actor. He appeared in the television drama "Boys Over Flowers" in 2009. He is popular throughout Asia.

Kim's agency did not return calls seeking comment.

Celeb Hack Exposes Holes In Digital Security

More than 100 celebrities are thought to be victims of this latest hacking scandal but the perpetrator is yet to come forward.

As the FBI investigates how nude photos of Jennifer Lawrence and model Kate Upton, among others, came to be posted on 4chan.org, a conversation has begun about the difficulties of maintaining our privacy in this digital age.

Many of the photos have proved to be genuine and there are differing theories for how they were obtained.

Some cyber security experts speculated that hackers may have obtained the images by exploiting weaknesses in an online image-storing platform.

Apple is also investigating whether its iCloud has been compromised.

"It is important for celebrities and the general public to remember that images and data no longer just reside on the device that captured it," security researcher Ken Westin wrote in a blog post.

Model Cara Delevingne was targeted in the hack

"Once images and other data are uploaded to the cloud, it becomes much more difficult to control who has access to it, even if we think it is private."

Other celebrities who were not affected by the leak have been urging the public not to view the photos and thus perpetuate the problem.

British actress Emma Watson wrote on Twitter: "Even worse than seeing women's privacy violated on social media is reading the accompanying comments that show such a lack of empathy."

American actress Lena Dunham said the person responsible for leaking the pictures was "a sex offender" and anyone looking at them was "violating these women again and again".

Private information and images of celebrities are frequent targets for hackers. Last year, a site posted credit reports, federal Social Security numbers and other financial info on celebrities, including Jay Z and his wife Beyonce, Mel Gibson, Ashton Kutcher and many others.

However, the law on crimes like this is not yet set in stone.

Most websites which host photos, such as 4chan.org, are protected by a federal law which absolves them of responsibility for material posted by third parties.

Prosecution will depend on knowing who uploaded the photo and where it originated.

Cloud technology specialist James Sinclair told Sky News everyone must take responsibility for protecting themselves.

"Everything digital goes somewhere. Knowing that, you have to take good steps which is don't use the same usernames and passwords on every website, keep them cryptic and use two-factor authentication if you can.

"When data goes into a digital format it becomes a threat," he added.

Some have blamed the celebrities themselves for posing for the photographs, including Ricky Gervais who backtracked and deleted his tweet after a backlash from users.

But most people seem to agree with Lawrence's publicist - the hack was a "flagrant violation of privacy" - and the hope is that this time, the criminals behind the action will be tracked down and convicted.

Jennifer Lawrence nude photos: Is Apple iCloud safe?

As naked photos and explicit videos of celebrities have apparently been leaked online, here's what you need to know about Apple's iCloud service
Apple is investigating after explicit pictures of celebrities were apparently leaked online.

The leak has been linked to iCloud, Apple's cloud service, but it has not been confirmed.

Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris says the firm is looking into the matter.

The Hunger Game actress Jennifer Lawrence, model Cara Delevingne and former Downton Abbey star Jessica Brown Findlay are among those whose videos and photos were apparently leaked.

iCloud is a wireless storage facility which can be used to access files remotely.

It allows users to save pictures, videos, contacts and emails among other files across a range of Apple devices, which can then be accessed over the internet.

How safe is iCloud?

It is generally considered extremely safe. Data is encrypted both on Apple's servers and while in transit from your device, and the company maintains the master key. Official Apple apps use secure tokens to authenticate an account, eliminating the need to store user names and passwords within the apps themselves.

How were the pictures leaked?

It hasn't been confirmed whether this is definitely down to iCloud, but reports suggest the photos might have been accessed because of an attack on Apple users' passwords.

A piece of computer code that repeatedly guesses passwords has been found in an online post. The script was posted to software site GitHub, but a message has since appeared saying that Apple had fixed the bug.

According to the post, the script uses the top 500 most common passwords approved by Apple to try to gain access to user accounts. If successful, it would give the hacker full access to the iCloud account, including photographs.

The issue has been linked to a flaw in the 'Find my iPhone' service which has now been fixed.

Other notable cloud services include Dropbox and Google Drive, which enable users to keep more of their files close to hand without taking up huge amounts of memory on their devices.
